Unit 2: Basic Operations

In Unit 2: Basic Operations, students will build the foundation for their future study of mathematics by developing a true mastery of the meanings and representations of addition, subtraction, multiplication, factoring and division with whole numbers. Through this experience, they will be prepared to dive deeper into a study of other types of numbers and operations.  Unit 2 is also focused on introducing and training students to use the Discovery Method^TM; including making observations, writing hypotheses and proving their own theorems.  All of which aid in the development of problem solving, pattern recognition and communication skills.
